That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events.
This year we’ll install free smoke alarms, create escape plans and share fire safety information.
Join us for a rewarding day at a Sound the Alarm event near you. Make an even greater impact and donate to help families prepare for, respond to and recover from home fires.
The American Red Cross responds to approximately 500 fires in Northern New England each year, providing financial assistance for food, clothing and emergency shelter. The region has ramped up our prevention efforts and is taking our fire safety message to the cities and towns of the Northern New England Region. Teams of volunteers are going door-to-door in targeted neighborhoods, meeting with residents, sharing fire safety tips, and installing free smoke alarms where needed.
The Home Fire Campaign and Sound the Alarm rely on the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, who come from businesses, schools, civic organizations and elsewhere in the community. They help spread the message of fire safety and help keep our communities safe.
Engage your organization to help implement fire safety programs in your community.
Prepare, respond and help families recover from home fires.
