Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for blood and platelets is constant. That is why the 39th Annual KLOS American Red Cross Blood Drive, sponsored by radio station 95.5 KLOS, was so important.
Although a resident of Ontario, California, Dawn Dooley came out to the Red Cross of Riverside's chapter office to donate as part of the KLOS Blood Drive. It is especially important for her to donate because her mother has been a recipient of life-saving blood transfusions. Dawn's O-negative blood type also makes her a universal blood donor. Anyone of any blood type can use her blood. “The 95.5 KLOS event is also cool because you get immediate rewards for donating,” said Dawn.
Every donor that participated in the blood drive, which took place at various locations throughout Southern California on August 22, received a special edition 95.5 KLOS Blood Drive T-Shirt, not to mention delicious snacks and beverages to refresh themselves after their donation.
If you would like to make an appointment to make a lifesaving blood donation, go to redcrossblood.org and enter your zip code to find the nearest blood drive or blood donation center in your area.
