The American Red Cross in Connecticut and Rhode Island will host THE party of the year: Mission: Possible
2020 on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 6:30 – 11:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford.
Mission: Possible 2020 is a brand-new event being held in place of the annual Red Cross Heroes Ball. This un-gala will feature entertaining hands-on challenges, unique interactive exhibits and themes intertwined with opportunities to support people affected by disasters.
“We are thrilled to be hosting this new and innovative fundraising event,” said Mario Bruno, CEO, American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. “Not only is this new format a great way to engage our audience, it also provides an opportunity for supporters to gain additional insight into the mission of the Red Cross.”
Rather than a providing the traditional sit-down dinner, the Mission: Possible 2020 format will allow you to eat, drink, mingle and explore the Connecticut Science Center at your own pace while completing missions related to the Red Cross. Themed food stations will be placed throughout the Science Center’s upper floors. An open bar will be featured throughout the event. Mission: Possible 2020 will also feature a high-end silent auction, with proceeds benefiting the Red Cross.
In addition to fun and interactive missions, Mission: Possible 2020 will honor very special heroes during the event. This year’s honorees are K9 First Responders and James Traficante. K9 First Responders use trained trauma dogs to aid and reassure individuals and groups impacted by violence, tragedy or traumatic events. James Trafficante was on the B-17 WWII-era plane that crashed at Bradley International Airport in October 2019. James was able to open the hatch on the vintage WWII aircraft and assist some of the survivors as they emerged from the wreckage.
Mission: Possible 2020 is being co-chaired by Tom Vaccarelli, Vice President of Facilities, Construction and Real Estate at Hartford HealthCare and Marcia Keegan, Vice President, National Talk Radio, ESPN. Both are Mission: Possible 2020’s TV media sponsor is WTNH. The Red Cross is thrilled to continue its partnership with the station.
