HONOLULU, HI- August 29, 2018: Although Tropical Storm Lane has passed the islands, Red Cross workers remain on the ground to assist residents who were impacted by the storm.
On the Big Island, Red Cross volunteers are mobilizing relief items, like shovels, rakes, tarps, trash bags, gloves, storage containers, hand sanitizer, and bleach for distribution to those in need. Starting tomorrow, in addition to distributing relief items to affected residents, caseworkers will be meeting with residents whose homes have been destroyed, to ensure that their immediate emergency needs are met and to provide referrals, guidance or additional assistance, as needed, to help with the recovery process.
On Maui, Red Cross caseworkers are at Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center (15 Ipu Aumakua Lane, Lahaina, HI 96761) Wednesday from 9:00am to 4:30pm, Thursday from 9:00am to 7:30am, and Friday from 9:00am to 4:30pm for those needing assistance due to the West Maui brush fire or Tropical Storm Lane.
