American Red Cross of the Illinois River Valley regional executive Brian McDaniel and a volunteer, Chuck Massaro of Wheaton are leaving from the chapter office in the Red Cross emergency response vehicle (ERV) headed for Louisiana to help communities affected by Hurricane Ida.
Brian and Chuck will be joining over 30 other Illinois Region volunteers already deployed to assist with relief efforts in Louisiana. The team plans to leave by 8:30AM on Thursday from the chapter office.
The emergency response vehicle will aid in disaster relief to mobilize supplies such as ready-to-eat meals, water and snacks, clean-up kits and other items once it arrives in Louisiana.
The American Red Cross and our partners are helping people impacted by this devastating storm across Louisiana and Mississippi. Right now, the Red Cross is focused on providing safe shelter, meals and comfort for people in need.
For the Red Cross, our work is just beginning. We will be working side-by-side with our partners to help people in need for weeks and months to come. To help people affected by Hurricane Ida, visit redcross.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS, or text the word IDA to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
Your gift is a commitment to helping people in need, and every single donation matters. Financial donations enable the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from this disaster.
The Red Cross urges individuals in unaffected areas of the country to make an appointment to give blood to ensure a sufficient blood supply remains available for patients.
Schedule a blood or platelet donation appointment by using the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733- 2767).
