The American Red Cross of the Indiana Region is excited to unveil its new bloodmobile, which features an innovative generator powered by a battery pack and solar panels. These will provide energy for lighting and essential equipment used to safely collect blood donations, once the vehicle is parked.
The ribbon-cutting event will take place on Tuesday, September 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the American Red Cross Offices, located at 1510 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis. Indiana Region CEO, Terry Stigdon and partners will speak at 1:30 p.m., followed by a tour of the new bloodmobile.
This is part of the organization’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint by cutting diesel fuel consumption and minimizing waste and water usage. A special thank you to the Tiffany Circle of the Indiana Region and the Nicholas H. Noyes, Jr., Memorial Foundation for funding the bloodmobile and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for funding the solar-supported onboard battery.
