JoAnn Woody first joined the American Red Cross in 2002 as a volunteer with the Tulsa Area Chapter serving in multiple roles including Disaster Action Team responder/leader, Disaster Duty Officer, Service to the Armed Forces caseworker and disaster/International Humanitarian Law instructor. She and her husband relocated to the Kansas City area in 2009 where JoAnn resumed her volunteer duties and began building a network of local, state and national level partnerships that have served the organization and our communities well.
In 2013, JoAnn accepted the Disaster Program Manager position for the Greater Kansas City Area Chapter - overseeing Disaster Cycle Services activities in a 13-county chapter jurisdiction and supporting the volunteers and community partners through a significant restructure over the next two years. JoAnn then transitioned to the role of the External Relations DPM in 2018. At the close of 2021, JoAnn agreed to serve as the Interim Executive Director for the Central and Northern Missouri Chapter, supporting that chapter and the board during the search for a new executive director and facilitating the successful United Way Grant Application process. She has also deployed to serve on numerous national and regional disaster response operations.
JoAnn and her husband reside in Kansas City with their two dogs and enjoy spending their free time at the Lake of the Ozarks or watching their granddaughters’ various sports or school activities.
