Volunteers with the American Red Cross Minnesota and Dakotas Region are providing essential supplies and support in Minnesota and South Dakota.
More than 100 disaster responders are part of the Red Cross relief response in flood-impacted communities in Minnesota and South Dakota.
To date, Red Cross volunteers have assessed over 530 homes. Assessments help the Red Cross understand the extent of damage to homes, informing assistance families may need in the coming days and weeks.
The organization of emergency relief supplies, including clean-up kits, is ongoing to support those affected by the flooding. Distribution efforts are continuing to ensure all necessary supplies reach the impacted communities promptly.
Additionally, the Red Cross has supported emergency shelter relief. Currently, the Red Cross is managing two shelters in Minnesota for people affected by the flooding. Shelters provide essential resources, including a safe place to stay, meals, health services, emotional support, and information.

The Red Cross plays a critical role in helping families and communities recover in the weeks and months after a disaster and is prepared to adapt to provide the necessary care and comfort in the affected communities.
The Red Cross remains in contact with local officials across the impacted areas to evaluate the needs of the residents and is working alongside community partner organizations to coordinate additional resources for impacted individuals and families.
Residents affected by the flooding can receive assistance by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). The free Red Cross Emergency app can be downloaded for weather alerts, open Red Cross shelter locations and safety steps for emergencies such as flooding.
