RALEIGH, NC — As Hurricane Florence approached the coast, RTI International stood up to help the community before landfall by making a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross of Eastern North Carolina.
“The Red Cross is doing critical work to respond to disasters such as Hurricane Florence and to serve our communities,” said RTI International President and CEO Wayne Holden. “As an organization headquartered in North Carolina, it’s even more essential for us to provide support where our staff members live and work. We are pleased to partner with the Red Cross to facilitate response efforts, which is aligned with our work to deliver the promise of science for global good.”
In addition to the generous donation, RTI is committed to match up to an additional $50,000 in staff contributions.
“RTI is a true friend of the Red Cross,” said Barry Porter, regional CEO of the Red Cross of Eastern NC. “When disasters strike, RTI stands by our side. When the community needs blood, they are the first in line to host a blood drive and provide support to meet lifesaving equipment needs. When the community is in need, RTI employees donate out of the kindness of their hearts. We truly couldn’t fulfill our mission without companies like RTI.”
In North Carolina, Hurricane Florence forced an estimated 10,000 people to seek shelter in more than 150 Red Cross and community partner shelters. With the support of companies like RTI International, the Red Cross is better equipped to meet the immediate needs of those affected by this powerful storm.
