In 2021 more than 150 local Service to the Armed Forces volunteers offered programs and services virtually and on-site at military medical facilities and veterans care locations in our region. The efforts included projects like providing baby baskets to expecting service members, and holding resiliency workshops to provide military, veterans, and their families with effective tools for facing challenges and stress. This past year our SAF team provided support to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Blue Ash Air National Guard Station, Springfield-Beckly Air National Guard Base, Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Zanesville Air National Guard Base, Defense Supply Center Cincinnati and Columbus, and many more. Our volunteers provided more than 8,000 service hours in our Veterans’ Administration Hospitals in Cincinnati, Columbus, Chillicothe, Dayton and the Wright-Patterson Medical Center.
The Service to the Armed Forces Program helps meet the needs of a changing military by ensuring that active-duty and community-based service members, veterans and their families have worldwide access to timely and reliable humanitarian services such as emergency communications, financial assistance and information and referral.
