Measles & Rubella Partnership

What is the Measles and Rubella Partnership?

Join us this Thursday, April 25 for the National Youth Council (NYC) Measles and Rubella Partnership - an initiative that delves deep into our collective efforts to eliminate measles and rubella on a global scale! This event aims to raise awareness about the importance of vaccinations and the ongoing efforts to achieve this goal. Our esteemed guest speakers will share their expertise, experiences, and insights into the challenges and triumphs of combating these infectious diseases.

Why participate in the Measles and Rubella Initiative?

World Immunization Week (April 24 – 30, 2024), “celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease” (World Health Organization).

Approximately 351 children die from measles-related complications each day, or 14 deaths every hour. Rubella can have serious consequences for pregnant women and their children. For $1, a child in a low-income country can be vaccinated against measles. For $2, a child can be protected against both measles and rubella.
