Charlotte Fawcett was heading out to run some errands when she spotted an American Red Cross volunteer and flagged him down.
She explained that nobody from the Red Cross had been by to see her after a tornado that struck Springdale, Arkansas had destroyed her mobile home.
She was assured that someone from the Red Cross would come to where she was staying at her son’s nearby undamaged mobile home.
Withing a hour, Red Cross caseworkers Misty Sutton and Linda Morgan were knocking on the front door.
Charlotte explained how a large tree branch crashed through the roof, crushing the backside of the home where she was at the time. Her shoulder was injured but she is so glad she and her Siamese cat Boo Boo survived.
“I thought we were goners, I really did,” she said. “Boo Boo was outside and survived and that’s really a blessing... it really is.”
“I’ve heard people criticize the Red Cross. The Red Cross really did good and I really appreciate that, I really do,” she said before turning her attention to Boo Boo, waiting patiently to be stroked.
