July 1, 2019 -- The Red Cross of Georgia honored Rockdale Fire Rescue and Georgia News Network with the Good Neighbor Award on June 26th at their Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony (held at the Georgia Freight Depot and hosted by CBS 46 Chief Meteorologist, Jennifer Valdez). Rockdale Fire Rescue partnered with the Red Cross for a Sound the Alarm event on May 11th in Conyers--helping to install well over 500 free smoke alarms in a single day and Georgia News Network played a key role in airing PSA's, helping to recruit more than 1,000 volunteers for the Red Cross' state-wide Sound the Alarm campaign. All in, 20 volunteers and community partners were honored during the evening event-- including two volutneers, Donna Anderson and Bob Sheldon, for 50 years of Red Cross service.
