The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes that don't have them, and by educating people about home fire safety.

FY24 Sound the Alarm Results

Thank you to our generous donors and volunteers who helped make our FY24 Sound the Alarm initiative a success!

During this year's Sound the Alarm campaign (October 14 – November 11) we:

Served 1,937 people, with a cumulative total of more than 82,000 people served since program inception.

Installed 1,511 smoke alarms, for a cumulative total of more than 64,000 installations since the program began.

Made 640 households safer, with a cumulative total of over 28,000 households served since the initiative was started.

If you cannot afford to purchase smoke alarms or are physically unable to install a smoke alarm, the Red Cross may be able to help.

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.

That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events.

This year we’ll install free smoke alarms, create escape plans and share fire safety information.
