DETROIT (June 11, 2024) – Four American Red Cross chapters in the Michigan Region have welcomed community members to their board of directors.
The chapters are Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Northern Michigan in Traverse City, Southeast Michigan in Detroit and West Michigan in Grand Rapids. The board members bring accomplished and diverse backgrounds in academia, animal and food safety, autism therapy, community affairs, food and animal safety, fundraising, health care, human resources, military service, patent law, real estate and translation services.
Meet the new board members:
Mid-Michigan Chapter
- Joshua Baker is operations manager at Jackson National Life Insurance, where he also chairs a veterans advocacy group. Baker served 10 years as a firefighter/emergency medical technician in the U.S. Air Force and is a former Red Cross emergency medical response instructor.
- Jerre Cory, a fundraising specialist, is president of the East Lansing Film Festival and Society. Previously, she was executive director of the Mid-Michigan Treatment Courts Foundation.
- Robert Donofrio, Ph.D., is the chief scientific officer at Neogen®, an animal and food safety company. In this role, he leads the company’s global research and development strategic vision, resource management and product development for the food safety, animal health and genomics divisions.
- Tina Gross is president and chief nursing officer at Sparrow Specialty Hospital, part of the Sparrow Health System. This year will mark her 20th year at the health system.
- Alea Hewson is the call center manager at the MSU Federal Credit Union. She joined the credit union in 2014 and has held various positions before being elevated to her current leadership role in 2022.
- Samantha Le is a commercial real estate professional with experience in the Michigan and Chicago markets. She specializes in lease transactions, acquisitions and dispositions.
- Salman Muridi is chief executive officer at Advance ABA Care, which provides therapy services to people with autism. Prior to his current position, Muridi served as a freelance translator.
- Fathy Shetiah is president and chief executive officer of 7C Lingo7, which provides interpretation, translation and cultural training services. He is also a certified facilitator.
- Jessica Tramontana is principal community affairs manager at Consumers Energy. She is a seasoned communicator with years of journalism, policy, legislative and political experience.
Northern Michigan Chapter
- Capt. Philip Rosi II, APR + M, is retired from the U.S. Navy. During a distinguished military career spanning more than 30 years, Capt. Rosi was an executive leader and strategic communicator for military and civilian personnel.
Southeast Michigan Chapter
- Marco Gatti is a patent attorney and has been a practicing attorney for 13 years. Prior to his legal career, he was a safety critical system engineer at General Motors.
West Michigan Chapter
- Ning “Jackie” Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., is the dean of the College of Health Professions at Grand Valley State University. Prior to joining Grand Valley, she was associate dean of Academic Affairs at Seton Hall University.
