Cadet Marcus Vega, while giving blood recently in Eisenhower Hall at the United States Military Academy, said he has been donating blood for five years. Originally from Clarksville, Tennessee, Cadet Vega first came to West Point to attend high school at the United States Military Academy Prep School. Now in his first year at the Academy, he said “I’ve given blood every single time since I have been able.” Upon graduation and commissioning as an officer in the U.S. Army, he’ll serve in the Infantry.
Cadet Stephen Peters, from Decatur, Illinois has given blood “as often as possible” since arriving here at West Point in 2018 to attend high school at the United States Military Academy Prep School. He is now in his first year at the Academy. When asked whether the Academy offers incentives to people to donate blood, Cadet Peters looked around our temporary donation center here in Eisenhower Hall-- filled with cadets and senior Army officers-- and said, “They do, but the people coming out for these drives are motivated to do something good.”
“I got blood as kid, after a car accident. So I started giving when I turned 16.” Now, as a senior cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point, Christopher Letarte continues to give year after year. Upon graduation and commissioning as an officer in the U.S. Army, he’ll serve in the Cyber branch of the Army.
“It’s the right thing to do,” explained Cadet Jonas Ebner, after donating blood recently at the United States Military Academy at West Point. “I’ve been giving blood since high school.” Now, as a Senior at the Academy, he is getting ready to commission and graduate in a few months, after which he will head to Missouri for further training in the Engineering branch of the Army.
