On Wednesday, August 28, American Airlines and the American Red Cross gathered at the American Airlines CR Smith Museum to mark a milestone in its decades-long relationship.

Representatives from both organizations gathered around a restored Flagship Knoxville DC-3 Aircraft from the 1940s to celebrate a partnership in which American Airlines has contributed nearly $25 million to the Red Cross since 1986.

Dr. Linda Braddy, CEO of the American Red Cross North Texas Region, expressed her deep gratitude for American Airlines' longstanding and generous support.

"Thanks to American Airlines support, we have been able to bring relief and hope to people during some of the most devastating times of their lives," Braddy said. "It helps enable the Red Cross to offer shelter, food and both physical and mental health support to those affected by disasters."

In 2023, American Airlines received Mission Leader status, a prestigious recognition given to corporations that donate $3 million annually to support the Red Cross's relief, response and recovery efforts.

Following Braddy's speech, attendees assembled emergency kits for military members. The kits, filled with essential items like a poncho, emergency first aid guide, drinking water, a whistle and an emergency blanket, represented the community's continued commitment to supporting those who serve.

Attendees assembled 2,500 kits, filling more than 40 boxes destined to provide comfort and aid to those in need. A card-writing station was also set up for participants to compose messages to accompany the kits.

This event was an excellent example of what can be achieved when organizations unite for a common cause. The atmosphere was one of team spirit, purpose, a dedication to helping others and a reflection of a powerful partnership that has flourished over the years.
