DALLAS, Jan. 15, 2023 — Vondell Brown joined the American Red Cross North Texas Region in December as its new regional chief operating officer. Brown brings more than 35 years of military and non-profit experience to the position.
Brown provides a wealth of knowledge, skills, and abilities to the Red Cross, including dynamic and diverse team building, business acumen, strategic planning and implementation, customer retention, problem-solving, budget creation and discipline.
He joins the Red Cross from the Wounded Warrior Project, where he served as the alum director. Using U.S. Army experience, his team met the needs of soldiers and their family members through mentorship, outreach and service. In this role, Brown also successfully developed and executed strategic operational plans, worked to identify program and service deficiencies, enhanced program growth and forecast and managed a $48 million annual budget.
Before joining the Wounded Warrior Project, he attained the rank of first sergeant before retiring from the Army in 2010 with an honorable discharge. Brown has a bachelor's degree in business administration management from Western Governors University and an MBA in project management and performance improvement from Grantham University.
