The Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. The American Red Cross assists the Library in these efforts by video recording veterans’ oral histories across Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. While the Library is specifically seeking histories of American wartime veterans, the American Red Cross will interview any veteran for personal preservation.
