This June, the American Red Cross has partnered with iconic brands, recognized celebrities and leading organizations to highlight a world without the letters A, B, and O – the main blood types. For patients around the globe these letters signify life – and at times they do go missing from hospital shelves.
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion—yet only 3 percent give each year. The Missing Types movement aims to help fill the gaps by asking individuals to donate as new blood donors decline year after year. Help ensure patients don’t have to wait for lifesaving blood transfusions—join Red Cross partners including Google, IBM, Dominos, Salesforce and Oreos in finding the #MissingType.

Join the #MissingType movement—make an appointment to give blood by visiting redcrossblood.org, using the Red Cross Blood Donor App or calling 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767). All blood types are needed.
A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
