Friday, August 24, 2018 — In response to last week’s historic flooding, the Red Cross of Eastern Pennsylvania continues its disaster recovery efforts throughout the region. More than 100 Red Cross disaster workers have been working in the region helping residents recover.
Since the beginning of last week, Red Cross volunteers have served more than 6,200 meals and snacks to those affected by flooding. More than 1,800 clean up kits and other flood relief supplies have been distributed to more than 600 homes. Some 350 cases of water have also been handed out.
Last week, Red Cross shelters provided 70 overnight stays for those who haven’t been able to return home. Red Cross caseworkers have given nearly 250 people whose homes were damaged direct financial assistance to help them start on their road to recovery.
In the days and weeks ahead, those caseworkers will continue to work one-on-one with families to establish long term recovery plans. Anyone whose home was damaged by flooding and still needs help can contact the Red Cross locally at 1-800-422-7677.
