The American Red Cross has facilities in the United States, territories and on military bases worldwide. A large team of “Behind the Scenes” volunteers fulfills the various administrative and operational tasks at these offices, warehouses and training centers.
These volunteer positions suit people who are organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task. Computer skills are helpful in most roles and required in some; this can range from comfort using the Internet, to proficiency in Microsoft Office, to experience with Salesforce and Sharepoint. A “Behind the Scenes” position may be particularly appealing if you prefer a set schedule with regular duties and (for most roles) minimal interaction with the public.
Location will primarily be at your local Red Cross chapter office or other Red Cross facility, although some positions can be done from home. Time commitments vary by position but “Behind the Scenes” assignments typically require a weekly shift.
All necessary training will be provided.
I volunteer because I love working with such extraordinary people devoted to one another and delivering the Red Cross Mission. The Mission of the Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering for those impacted by emergencies, who can’t get behind that?
