As a non-profit organization, the Red Cross relies on the contributions of corporate and individual donors. Our “Finance & Fundraising” volunteers ensure that we are good stewards of the donations we receive and that our donors are engaged, included and celebrated for their generosity.
A financial volunteer position may suit you if you are detail oriented, have research skills or enjoy data analytics. Some positions involve interacting with the public, such as handling donations at a special event, but most are more behind-the-scenes at Red Cross facilities or from your home. Computer skills are helpful in all roles and required in some; this can range from proficiency in Microsoft Excel, to experience with Salesforce and Sharepoint. Professional experience is useful for roles such as auditing and other accounting positions.
If you are looking for a more people-oriented role, especially if you have sales or customer service experience, consider a fundraising position. You’ll interact directly with our donors, whether asking for contributions or following up to thank them. Good communication skills, an outgoing personality and a thick skin are essential.
Work location will primarily be at your local Red Cross chapter office or out at events in your community, although some positions can be done from home. Time commitments vary by position but typically require a weekly shift.
All necessary training will be provided.
The Red Cross was a natural fit for me. In my professional life, I do financials. My job skills translate easily to Red Cross work. The work I do supports life-saving work on the ground.
