The American Red Cross relies on volunteer instructors to train and develop our paid and volunteer staff as well as to provide community education programs on topics such as disaster preparation.
An “Instructor/Presenter” volunteer position is ideal if you have teaching experience, Scouting or similar club leadership experience, and excellent communication skills. You’ll be representing the Red Cross in your community, so you’ll need to be comfortable with public speaking, committed to the Red Cross mission, and enthusiastic about working with diverse populations. Comfort with technology is a plus, as some training is conducted online.
Depending on the position, work location may be at your local Red Cross chapter office or offsite in your community. Time commitments also vary by position.
All necessary training will be provided.
The Red Cross gave me practice teaching experience well before I ever received my teaching degree, and I have been training others in lifesaving skills ever since. Training and mentoring instructors and instructor trainers for both Training Services and Volunteer Services is both personally challenging and rewarding. I am training the next generation of instructors for the Red Cross and the American public.
